The spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19, continues to dominate the news headlines, and understandably some people may be concerned about the risk of transmission between humans and animals.
This is the current statement from the World Health Organisation:
“At present, there is no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with the new coronavirus. However, it is always a good idea to wash your hands with soap and water after contact with pets. This protects you against various common bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella that can pass between pets and humans.”
We have always had an antibacterial hand rub on our reception counters and it’s great to see everyone being so conscious and using it whilst they are with us.
You may also have read that human hospitals have been asked to carry out more video-based consultations to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus.
